LOUIS LEWIS MOLINA: A REAL-LIFE CHAMPION

HomeAid Los Angeles is very lucky to have Louis Lewis on our team! He has been serving his community for over 30 years — as Senior Pastor at L.A.’s Southern Baptist Church and Program Coordinator at both the Asian American Drug Abuse Program (AADAP) and West Adams WorkSource Center (WAWSC). Louis has been instrumental in the success of our WORKS Program, especially during the inaugural year which started during the pandemic. WORKS teaches its students job-site basics and introduces them to building industry leaders for employment opportunities and mentorships, focusing on populations who commonly face major hurdles when entering the construction industry.

Aiko Tan, previously Executive Director of HomeAid Los Angeles, nominated Louis to receive the Champions award from the Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation. The MolinaCares Accord helps the disadvantaged through funding for innovative programs that improve local communities, and Louis was recognized for decades of commitment to battling drug addiction, homelessness, and recidivism in South Los Angeles. Each “Champion” received a $5,000 grant to pay forward to the nonprofit organization of their choice, and Louis chose HomeAid Los Angeles.

Abbie Totten, President of Molina Healthcare of California Plan, presented the $5,000 check to HomeAid Los Angeles on behalf of Louis Lewis and the funds were designated to purchase new computers for our WORKS program.

HALA depends on the grants and donations we receive from the community and we greatly appreciate this contribution from Louis and MolinaCares. If you would like to donate to our programs, click here.
